bookmarksA spaghetti squash school bus with radish kids and a broccoli poodle are just two food-friendly images that will be gracing new Cancer Project bookmarks. Award-winning “Play With Your Food” artist Saxton Freymann has given The Cancer Project permission to use his images on these bookmarks, which also feature healthy, plant-based recipes.

Freymann has illustrated several children’s books, which feature his clever cruciferous creations. His carved fruits and vegetables seem to take on personalities and show distinct emotions. Dog Food, which features all kinds of dogs acting out common dog phrases in unexpected ways, won The New York Times Best Illustrated Book of 2002.

The fronts of the bookmarks display Freymann’s unique images along with themed low-fat recipes from The Cancer Project. The backs of the bookmarks explain how the specific fruit or vegetable used in each image and recipe can help prevent cancer or cancer reoccurrence. Fatty foods, especially saturated fats, have been linked to an increased risk of breast, colon, and prostate cancer. A diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains is naturally low in fat, loaded with fiber, and full of cancer-fighting antioxidants.

The bookmarks will be given away at medical symposiums, cooking classes, and other Cancer Project events. Order your bookmarks here >
